No-Till Oklahoma Conference will feature new topics and speakers

The No-Till Oklahoma Conference will be held Feb. 21 and 22 in Norman, Okla., at the National Center for Employee Development.

Chad Godsey, Oklahoma State University, said the list of topics to be covered at the conference this year include alfalfa production, grass based rotation systems, impacts of no-till versus conventional-till wheat production on soil dwelling invertebrates, herbicide management, low disturbance anhydrous application, and no-till canola production.

"This will be by far the best of set of topics we have had yet," Godsey said.

There will be several new speakers at this year's event. Steve Phillips from the International Plant Nutrition Institute will talk about intensive wheat management. Mark Hana, Iowa State University, will make a presentation on anhydrous applicators and Jim Marios, University of Florida, will talk about grass-based rotation systems. Rick Bieber, a no-till farmer from South Dakota, will discuss livestock and no-till cropping systems. You can find complete biographies on each speaker at www.notill.okstate.edu.

Nearly every session at the No-Till Oklahoma conference will include a producer perspective. This is a very popular part of the program. Producers on the program this year and their topics are Trey Lamb, alfalfa; Alan Mindemann, grain sorghum; Jeff Brower, wheat graze out and no-till systems; and Rodney Jones, sprayer economics. Godsey said they are still looking for producers to cover at least two more topics during the conference.

The cost for attending the conference is $110 per person if reservations are made before Feb. 10. After Feb. 10 the registration cost will be $125 per person. Registration fees cover food and programming expenses only. Conference cost does not include hotel accommodations.
