Iowa State University Extension and Outreach along with West Central Co-op and Carroll County State Bank are sponsoring Annie's Project, a course designed to empower women to be better business partners and owners. Women build networks and learn how to manage and organize critical information during this six session course. Annie's Project in Ralston begins Jan. 12 and continues through Feb. 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the West Central meeting room located at 406 First Street. All participants are invited to come early to have supper together; the meal begins at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 23 is scheduled as a tentative snow/weather make-up date. The cost of the course is $75. Register online at www.ucs.iastate.edu/mnet/annie/quickregister.html or register by phone by calling Madeline Schultz at 515-294-0588, or Lani McKinney at 515-294-9483. Participants in this class will receive training in managing all five areas of agricultural risk: financial, human resources, legal, marketing and production. Ruth Hambelton, a University of Illinois Extension farm business and marketing specialist, designed Annie's Program to share her mother's life experiences with today's farm women living and working in a complex, dynamic, evolving business environment. Since 2003, Annie's Project has inspired more than 7,000 women in 28 states to manage the information used in critical decision making processes and to build local networks with other farm women and service providers.
