Salina livestock auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,704 head, Jan. 26, compared to 4,333 head, last week and 4,175 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 700 pounds and heifers at 300 to 600 pounds in a limited supply were $5 to $10 higher, instance up to $15 higher on cattle suited for grazing. Steers at 700 to 800 pounds were steady, and 800 to 950 pounds were weak to $2 lower. Heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were firm to $2 higher, and 700 to 950 pounds were steady. Trade was very active and demand very good for cattle suited for grazing. Trade and demand was moderate for the bulk of the supply. The feeder supply included 72% steers and 28% heifers with 88% 600 pounds and over.
