Lexington livestock market report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,600 head Jan. 27, compared to 3,737 head last week and 3,635 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher, those at 550 pounds trended $9 higher, and over 600 pounds sold fully steady to $1 higher. Comparable heifer offerings under 600 pounds sold $7 to $10 higher, and over 600 pounds sold fully steady. The offering was attractive with numerous load to lot drafts of top quality calves with many all to time high prices achieved. Steers comprised 65% of the run, heifers 35% with nearly 58% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 374 lbs., 231.00; 18 head, 420 to 438 lbs., 209.50 to 214.00 (212.71); 459 to 483 lbs., 200.25 to 203.50 (201.21); 508 to 547 lbs., 193.75 to 202.00 (199.35); 554 to 598 lbs., 182.00 to 192.00 (189.44); 606 to 646 lbs., 170.00 to 178.50 (174.14); 657 to 693 lbs., 160.00 to 170.00 (161.06); 706 to 716 lbs., 157.00 to 160.00 (159.20); 752 to 798 lbs., 150.75 to 155.00 (153.56); 21 head, 750 lbs., 148.75 fleshy; 815 to 836 lbs., 148.10 to 151.50 (149.22); 859 to 895 lbs., 144.75 to 148.75 (146.67). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 335 lbs., 211.00; 523 to 534 lbs., 176.00 to 180.00 (177.22); 565 to 591 lbs., 172.00 to 178.50 (175.15); 14 head, 655 lbs., 150.00; 104 head, 794 lbs., 151.50.
