Georgia cattle auction summaryThe summary of livestock auctions for the week ending Jan. 27, totaled 9,234 head, compared to 12,826 head last week and 13,063 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were steady to $3 higher, bulls were $1 to $2 higher, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $8 higher, steer calves and heifer calves were $2 to $6 higher, replacement cows were $3 to $5 higher. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 31% steers under 600 pounds, 8% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
