Ericson livestock auction report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 4,220 head Jan. 28, compared to 2,900 head last week and 5,400 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared with last week, steers traded $3 to $6 higher and heifers traded unevenly steady. Demand was good for all offerings with several load lots of feeder cattle. Receipts consisted 59% steers, 41% heifers, with 64% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 359 to 379 lbs., 201.00 to 204.00 (202.95); 5 head, 417 lbs., 205.00; 462 to 487 lbs., 198.00 to 208.00 (203.28); 506 to 545 lbs., 193.00 to 204.50 (198.31); 551 to 594 lbs., 188.00 to 199.50 (191.75); 611 to 645 lbs., 181.00 to 187.00 (182.14); 653 to 694 lbs., 162.00 to 170.00 (165.60); 727 to 746 lbs., 158.10 to 162.25 (158.52); 80 head, 736 lbs., 166.00 value added; 782 to 793 lbs., 146.00 to 149.50 (148.75); 804 to 835 lbs., 151.60 to 153.25 (152.05); 5 head, 833 lbs., 146.00 fleshy; 181 head, 891 lbs., 147.25; 7 head, 901 lbs., 144.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 347 lbs., 201.00; 5 head, 390 lbs., 192.00; 17 head, 518 to 541 lbs., 179.50 to 184.00 (181.04); 557 to 599 lbs., 168.00 to 181.00 (176.19); 605 to 640 lbs., 167.00 to 171.75 (170.58); 675 to 698 lbs., 150.00 to 157.50 (153.05); 724 to 744 lbs., 148.00 to 154.00 (151.51).
