Tama feeder cattle auction report
The Tama Feeder Cattle Auction, Tama, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,536 head Jan. 27, compared to 1,415 head last week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa. Compared to last week, steer calves were $1.50 to $3 higher, heifer calves 400 to 550 pounds were $1.50 to $4.50 higher, 555 to 600 pounds were $8 to $9 higher, 700 to 800 pounds were $.50 to $.75 higher. Trade was active. Demand was very good. The supply consisted of 55.4% steers, 44.6% heifers, and 71.2% were over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 305 to 310 lbs., 195.00 to 197.50 (196.66); 8 head, 360 to 395 lbs., 197.00 to 203.00 (201.89); 15 head, 405 to 440 lbs., 193.00 to 199.00 (195.94); 460 to 486 lbs., 180.00 to 185.00 (181.84); 502 to 549 lbs., 172.00 to 183.00 (179.30); 22 head, 525 lbs., 183.75 fancy; 552 to 577 lbs., 170.00 to 179.00 (176.15); 603 to 648 lbs., 160.00 to 171.00 (164.97) calves; 651 to 694 lbs., 154.00 to 160.00 (158.56) calves; 713 to 742 lbs, 148.00 to 154.75 (151.86) calves; 753 to 793 lbs., 143.50 to 151.50 (149.82) calves; 815 to 846 lbs., 146.25 to 147.25 (146.95) calves; 860 to 873 lbs., 140.00 to 145.25 (141.56) calves; 3 head, 915 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 468 to 494 lbs., 176.00 to 178.00 (176.66); 11 head, 578 to 594 lbs., 167.00 to 168.00 (167.64). Medium frame 1, 5 head, 523 to 542 lbs., 155.00 to 163.00 (159.87).
