Winter livestock auction report
Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 4,621 head Feb. 1, compared to 4,391 head last week and 494 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture News, Dodge City, Kansas. Compared with last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were $4 to $8 higher, instances were $10 to $13 higher on thin fleshed and/or Value Added, 650 to 900 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Heifers 650 to 950 pounds were firm to $3 higher. Trade was very active, demand very good as buyers again were extremely aggressive to own all weights and classes of cattle. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers, with 78% 600 pounds and over.
