Registration for ag women conference coming to close

Kansas

Registration for the 2012 Women Managing the Farm Conference, Feb. 10 to 11, in Wichita, Kan., is coming to a close.

This year, general sessions will focus on community leadership, and developing leadership from within; animal welfare; moving from the farm to agribusiness management; striking a balance, and how Kansas and its people might be viewed by others, said Janet Barrows, agriculture career professional and spokesperson for the planning committee.

Attendees can choose from more than 25 concurrent conference sessions, with topics ranging from business management to successful family and farm partnerships, crops, marketing, financial planning, succeeding as an absentee landlord, health--and more.

Networking, which includes opportunities to talk with others who share similar challenges and goals during the conference, typically ranks high with attendees, Barrows said.

The conference is recommended for individuals in all aspects of agriculture, and spouses and partners are welcome, Barrows said.

Cost to attend is $170, and includes conference sessions and materials, most meals, breaks and networking sessions. The Hyatt Regency hotel is the conference site; reservations and more information are available online at www.womenmanagingthefarm.info or by calling 316-293-1234 or 888-421-1442.
