Amarillo livestock auction summary
The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 638 head Jan. 31, compared to 1,142 head last week and 582 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. No price trend analysis was available due to limited comparable sales, except 700- to 750-pound Medium and large frame 1 to 2, feeder heifers were $3 higher. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher, with instances of $5 to $6 higher on high dressing Boning type cows. Limited test on slaughter bulls. Slaughter cows made up 8% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and 90% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 22% feeder steers and bulls, 78% feeder heifers, approximately 46% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
