Grain, soybean bids lowerGrain and soybean bids were slight to sharply lower on weakness from the stock market and higher dollar, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Jan. 30. Soybeans and corn saw additional pressure from rain in the forecast for Argentina which will improve crop conditions. Wheat was 1 to 2 cents lower. Corn was 8 to 13 cents lower. Sorghum was 17 to 18 cents lower. Soybeans were 29 to 34 cents lower. Grains inspected for export for week ending Jan. 26: Wheat totaled 18.7 million bushels, up 900 thousand bushels; corn 22.7 million bushels, down 13.5 million bushels; sorghum 289 thousand bushels, down 595 thousand bushels and soybeans 41.5 million bushels, up 5.1 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 556.7 down 99.5 million; corn 671.1 down 11.8 million; sorghum 32.2 million down 27.3 million, and soybeans 718.0 down 261.4 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $6.97 1/2, down 2 1/2 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $6.73, down 2 cents; Minneapolis, $8.84, down 2 1/4 cents; Portland, unavailable; St. Louis, $6.60, down 2 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $6.47 to $6.52, down 10 to 8 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $6.22 3/4 to $6.27 3/4, down 10 to 9 cents; Omaha, $6.29 to $6.40, down 10 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $11.95, down 34 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $11.66 1/4 to $11.74 1/4, down 34 3/4 to 29 3/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $11.79 1/4 to $11.95 1/4, down 33 3/4 cents. Kansas City wheat prices Jan. 31, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $7.70 1/2 to $8.20 1/2, up 18 cents; 12% protein, $8.05 1/2 to $8.25 1/2, up 18 cents; 13% protein, $8.20 1/2 to $8.50 1/2, up 18 cents; 14% protein, $8.85 to $9 1/2, up 18 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $6.90 to $7.70 1/2, up 18 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $7.68 to $7.83, unchanged.
