Wheat Quality Council annual meeting set for Feb. 14 to 16

The Wheat Quality Council annual meeting and technical conference will be held at the Kansas City, Mo., airport Embassy Suites hotel on Feb. 14 to 16.

In addition to the annual review of new wheat lines submitted for testing from three wheat classes-hard winters, hard springs and eastern softs, an interesting forum and annual banquet will be held on Feb. 15.

The forum, "Update on Wheat Consumption and Related Issues," will feature a number of speakers in key industry positions revealing what's going on in the wheat industry as flour and bread sales are decreasing.

Megan Speas, Horizon Milling will make a presentation detailing the "Industry and Category Review."

Judi Adams, Wheat Foods Council/Grain Foods Foundation, will team up with Lee Sanders, American Bakers Association in a discussion of "Nutrition and Labeling Policy-Key Issues for the Grain Chain."

Jan Levenhagen, Mennel Milling Company will update the conference attendees on "Food Safety."

Lance Mistelbacher will be the keynote dinner speaker at the annual banquet that evening. Mr. Mistelbacher will present "The Demise of Single Desk Selling: A Perspective on the Impact of Changes to the Canadian Wheat Board." Mr. Mistelbacher is Vice President of Risk Management for Mapleleaf Foods Inc, Landmark, Manitoba Canada.

The early registrations have already set a record for attendance at a Wheat Quality Council annual meeting.
