KCA booth is hit at Topeka Farm ShowKansas For the 10th consecutive year, Kansas Cattlemen's Association has attended the Topeka Farm Show and visited with attendees in the R.R. Domer Livestock Arena. Again this year, Dettke Farms from Marysville was kind enough to supply a Hereford steer as part of the KCA booth. Over a thousand attendees came by and visited with staff and volunteers to discuss legislative issues, to get resource information, and to play "Guess the Weight of the Steer." With several hundred entries, the "Guess the Weight" was the hit of the show. This year, KCA had two prize options for the winner, a beef bundle and a $500 gift certificate toward a trailer donated by Rocking M Trailer Sales, Inc. The steer weighed 720 pounds. The winner from Council Grove, Kan., with a guess of 720, chose to receive the beef bundle. There were three people who guessed that exact weight, and hers was drawn out at random. "We would like to thank Dettke Farms and Andy and Brian Dettke for bringing the steer in this year. The steer had a great demeanor, and it really drew in a crowd. We would also like to thank our member volunteer Wanda Kinney for assisting us in our booth. Our staff appreciates the time and commitment. We especially appreciate everyone who came by the booth to visit with us about what KCA is doing to work for producers," stated staff member, Kelsey Gibson.
