Sheep industry represented on USFRA task forces

Lesa Carlton, California Wool Growers Association executive director, and Bryce Reece, Wyoming Wool Growers Association executive director, have been named to the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance Farmer/Rancher/Industry Engagement Task Force and the Influencer Outreach Task Force, respectively. Both will serve in these positions until the end of 2012.

Some of the projects the task forces are to address this year include training for USFRA conversation training, leaders and rapid response representatives; identifying 100 farm leaders that would be relied upon for media purposes, industry meetings and panel discussions; and focusing on young farmer programs and encourage them to engage in the social media aspect of the industry.

"As a member of USFRA affiliate, the American Sheep Industry Association is pleased the organization appointed state sheep affiliate leaders to the national task forces," said Peter Orwick, ASI executive director. "We appreciate having sheep industry representation and input in the initiative to enhance public trust in agricultural production."
