Vinita FFA alumnus recognized

On Dec. 20, 2011, the Vinita FFA Chapter in Oklahoma held their Alumni Recognition Banquet and Chapter Christmas party, where members of the community and alumni of the Vinita FFA chapter were recognized for their contributions to the chapter. Among those present, Alumnus of 1953, 78-year-old Raymond Crockett was presented with a nylon blue and gold Vinita FFA pullover. This would not be very significant to anyone else, but to Raymond, it was outstanding. However, to understand why, you would have to learn about his FFA past, back in 1953.
Raymond's family did not have the financial resources to buy him a National FFA blue corduroy jacket like everyone else; instead of having to borrow one from a family friend, he longed to have his very own. Every Greenhand member of the FFA today knows how it feels to have his/her own FFA jacket, but Raymond never had that opportunity.
Upon receiving his pullover, Raymond said this about the FFA, "FFA is the greatest organization in our country, make no mistake about it."
The Vinita FFA Chapter is happy to have presented Raymond with his first FFA jacket, and even though it is not made with corduroy, we are sure that he loves it.
