Elwood LandOwners Conference set for Feb. 29

Nebraska

The Elwood LandOwners Conference is scheduled for Feb. 29. Registration for the conference begins at 9:45 a.m. at the Legion Hall at 104 Rockford St. in Elwood. There is no charge for the event, but those interested in attending the conference are asked to pre-register before Feb. 27 by calling the UNL-Gosper Extension Office in Elwood, 308-785-2390, for a lunch count. Lunch will be courtesy of the event sponsors.

Dave Goeller, UNL Deputy Director North Central Risk Management Education Center will take an in-depth look at Business Succession and Farm Transition. Joe Hawbaker, Farm Law Attorney will have an in-depth discussion Farm/Ranch Transition & Estate Planning in the afternoon. Topics also covered will include farm transition planning, minimizing tax consequences, taxes, probate and other legalities. Craig Buescher will share his personal experiences of assisting a young farmer in taking over his farming operation

Local business and agricultural suppliers will also be on hand throughout the day to show case their services. Sponsors of the conference include the Elwood Chamber of Commerce, Legal Aid of Nebraska, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture Farm Mediation & Beginning Farmer Programs, The Nebraska Network for Beginning Farmer/Ranchers, and UNL Extension in Phelps-Gosper County.
