Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 908 head Dec. 20, compared to 788 head last week and 396 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to firm on limited comparable sales. Trade activity was moderate to active on good demand. The offering included several loads of steers Medium and large frame 1, at 600 to 850 pounds that buyers were eager to buy to finish out their orders for year. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher on a light test. Slaughter bulls were not well tested in the last sale. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 7%, 2% replacements, and 91% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 69% steers and bulls, 31% heifers. Approximately 75% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1 few 394 lbs., 197.00; few 419 lbs., 195.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 169.50 to 179.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 156.50 to 158.50; 650 to 700 lbs., calves, 149.50 to 153.50; 700 to 775 lbs., calves, 143.00 to 150.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 146.75 to 147.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 145.25 to 147.50; few 1042 lbs., 125.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 786 lbs., 145.75.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 473 lbs., 170.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 148.00 to 155.00; few 896 lbs., 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 675 lbs., 137.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 160.00 to 163.50; 400 to 475 lbs., 157.50 to 166.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 149.50 to 152.00; few 603 lbs., 145.00, 600 to 700 lbs., calves, 134.00 to 139.00, few 678 lbs., fleshy 125.00; few 741 lbs., calves, 127.50; few 752 lbs., 137.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 133.00 to 137.75; few 908 lbs., 125.00; few 1012 lbs., 118.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 591 lbs., 139.00; lot 690 lbs., 130.00. Medium and large frame 2. lot 730 lbs., 121.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 777 lbs., 110.00.

Slaughter cows: Breaking, 75 to 80% lean, 1250 to 1800 lbs., 75.50 to 76.00; high dressing, 80.00 to 82.50; low dressing, 65.00 to 68.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 75.50 to 79.00; high dressing, 80.00 to 83.50; low dressing, 70.00 to 74.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 75.00 to 77.50; high dressing, 79.50; low dressing, 72.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 70.00 to 73.50; high dressing, 76.00; low dressing, 60.00 to 61.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1855 to 2435 lbs., 87.50 to 91.50; high dressing, individual 1950 lbs., 96.75.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred 1135.00 to 1260.00; Middle Aged to Aged, 1200 to 1700 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred 1025.00 to 1275.00, 6 to 9 months bred 1100.00 to 1325.00.
