Texas Direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 36,100 head Dec. 21, compared to 19,100 head last week and 20,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week current feeder steers and heifers were firm to instances $5 higher, but mostly were $1 to $3 higher. Approximately 94% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 54% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers with 46% heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 19,500 head, 54%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 600 to 700 lbs., 151.00 to 160.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 144.50 to 153.60; 800 to 850 lbs., 144.00 to 149.50. Delivered price, 675 lbs., 154.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 146.50 to 154.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 146.25 to 151.75. Future delivery, FOB price 700 to 800 lbs., 153.00 to 155.00 February to April; 800 lbs., 152.00 to 153.30 February to May. Delivered price, 525 lbs., 157.75 June to August; 700 to 800 lbs., 154.50 to 160.00 February to May; 800 to 850 lbs., 152.50 to 157.75 February to July. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price, 550 to 600 lbs., 152.75 to 154.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 144.50 to 152.90; 700 to 800 lbs., 142.00 to 146.15; 800 to 850 lbs., 141.00 to 143.00. Delivered price, 600 to 700 lbs., 148.50 to 150.00; 700 lbs., 149.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 142.00 to 148.00.

Heifers: 16,600 head, 46%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 144.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 138.00 to 148.60. Delivered price, 575 lbs., 149.35; 600 to 650 lbs., 145.00 to 146.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 142.00 to 149.20. Future delivery, FOB price, 650 to 700 lbs., 150.60 to 159.70 February to March; 700 to 800 lbs., 147.35 to 150.70 February to May.
