Grain, soybean bids higher before holiday

Grain and soybean bids traded higher, with wheat trading mixed, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Dec. 21.

Dry weather in the western plains continues to provide support to wheat. Corn saw gains due to dry conditions in Argentina. Soybeans saw double digit gains despite the negative outside markets.

Wheat was 2 cents lower to 4 cents higher. Corn was 3 to 5 cents higher. Sorghum was 8 to 9 cents higher. Soybeans were 12 to 22 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $8.42, down 1 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $7.97, down 2 cents; Minneapolis, $8.96 1/2, down 2 1/4 cents; Portland, $8.42 to $8.47, up 1 1/2 cents; St. Louis, $7.82, up 1 cent.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.34, up 5 cents; Minneapolis, $6.77, up 5 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $6.91 to $7.02, up 5 1/2 cents; Omaha, $7.28 to $7.29, up 5 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $14.71, up 22 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $14.15 3/4 to $14.19 3/4, up 22 to 18 cents; central Illinois processors, $14.45 3/4 to $14.55 3/4, up 22 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 21, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $8.87 to $9.37, down 1 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $9.29 to $9.51, down 1 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $9.36 to $9.51, down 1 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $9.36 to $9.51, down 1 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $7.92 to $8.13, unchanged.
