North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,471 head Nov. 28, compared to 3,069 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Aggriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Feeder steers under 350 pounds were $6 lower on a light test, 350 to 600 pounds $5 to $9 higher, 600 to 650 pounds were $12 higher and 650 to 750 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were $3 to $9 higher, over 600 pounds were $1 to $4 higher. Feeder bulls were $3 to $6 higher. The supply included 830 feeder calves, 350 feeder yearlings, 75 replacement cows, 188 slaughter cows, and 28 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 46% steers, 45% heifers, and 9% bulls. Nearly 30% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 73.00 to 76.00; high dressing, 77.00 to 85.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 70.00 to 77.50; high dressing,78.00 to 85.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 64.00 to 73.00; high dressing, 74.00 to 81.50; low dressing, 56.00 to 62.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 62.00 to 67.00; high dressing, 69.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 51.00 to 58.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 84.00 to 92.00; high dressing, 92.00 to 95.00; low dressing, 73.00 to 81.00.
