West Plains regional cattle sales report

The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,100 head Nov. 27, compared to 1,564 head last week and 3,964 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week's lighter test, steers under 500 pounds were mostly steady, few sales were $2 higher, over 500 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, few sales true yearlings 750 to 825 pounds fully $6 higher than the last comparable test 2 to 3 weeks ago. Heifers under 700 pounds were $2 to $6 higher, full advance on the more uniform bunches of higher quality black-hided calves, weights over 700 pounds not tested. The supply was moderate and more attractive than last week. Demand was good, exception un-weaned, un-vaccinated 5 to 6 weight steer calves at best moderate and for several no better than steady. The supply consisted of 54% steers and 46% heifers, with around 36% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 174.00 to 189.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 160.00 to 174.00, small package fancy 425 lbs., 183.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 156.00 to 169.00, fleshy or un-weaned 145.00 to 155.00, 600 to 700 lbs., 143.00 to 158.00, fleshy/calves 132.50 to 140.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 136.00 to 143.00, calves 131.00 to 136.00; lot 752 lbs., 145.00; 800 to 815 lbs., 140.50 to 143.00; lot 900 lbs., 136.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 165.00 to 187.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 156.00 to 172.00, few fleshy 475 to 485 lbs., 136.00 to 138.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 166.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 156.00, 700 to 800 lbs., 135.00 to 144.00. Medium and large frame 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 145.00 to 150.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 143.00 to 148.00; package 715 lbs., 138.00; package 822 lbs., 128.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 275 to 290 lbs., 160.00 to 165.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 153.00 to 167.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 140.00 to 149.00, fleshy 132.50 to 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 134.00 to 146.00, fleshy un-weaned 126.00 to 136.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 128.00 to 139.50, fleshy 123.00 to 131.00.
