Amarillo livestock auction summary

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 993 head Nov. 26, compared to 1,061 head last week and 971 head last ear, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold firm to $4 higher on comparable sales. Trade activity was moderate on moderate to good demand. Offerings included a few loads of steers and heifers weighing 600 to 750 pounds. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady on a very light test. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4%, 1% replacements and 95% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 48% steers and bulls, 52% heifers. Approximately 52% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 316 lbs., 207.00; lot 418 lbs., 190.50 to 193.00; 450 to 475 lbs., 170.00 to 173.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 160.00, fleshy 138.00 to 141.00; few 600 lb. calves 142.00; load 668 lbs., 149.50, few 693 lb. calves 137.00; few 728 lb. calves 139.00; lot 762 lbs., 145.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 342 lbs., 194.00; lot 403 lbs., 182.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 146.50 to 149.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 452 lbs., 149.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 387 lbs., 185.00; 475 to 500 lbs., 156.50 to 158.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 145.50 to 150.00; few 587 lbs., 130.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 126.50 to 133.50; lot 672 lb. calves 122.50; few 762 lbs., 114.00; few 816 lbs., 111.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 297 lbs., 176.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 154.00 to 167.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 153.00 to 156.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 140.50 to 149.50, few 488 lbs., fleshy 122.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 142.00 to 150.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 147.00; load 627 lbs., 142.50, 600 to 700 lb. calves 125.00 to 130.00; lot 737 lbs., 137.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 435 lbs., 143.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 140.50; load 736 lbs., 139.25. Medium and large frame 2, few 766 lbs., 119.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 659 lbs., 119.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 73.00 to 74.50; low dressing, 70.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 76.00; high dressing, 81.75; low dressing, 72.00 to 74.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 73.00 to 74.75; high dressing, 80.00; low dressing, 68.50 to 72.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 68.50; high dressing, 73.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 56.00 to 61.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, high dressing, 1550 to 1635 lbs., 95.00 to 97.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young 1000 to 1200 lbs., 1 to 6 months bred 1075.00 to 1260.00/head. Medium and large frame 2 Young individual 1200 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred 1050.00/head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young, 800 to 1000 lbs., with 75- to 100-lb. calves 1185.00 to 1350.00; Aged 1000 lb cow with 100-lb. calf 1075.00/pair.
