Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa Okla., reported receipts of 2,622 head Nov. 26, compared to 3,122 head last week and 2,663 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $3 higher. Steer calves under 525 pounds were $8 to $12 higher, over 525 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves were $2 to $7 higher with good demand. Quality was above average with good numbers of weaned calves and large groups of one owner cattle. The supply included 17% over 600 pounds, 49% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to $2 higher. The old cows bred 4 months or more sold at about $2 over slaughter price and went back to the farm. Stock cows were in short supply. A total of 389 cows and bulls sols with 60% of cows going to packers.

Light, 18 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 53.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 64.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 24 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 87.00 to 90.00; high dressing, 91.50 to 95.50; low dressing, 76.00 to 86.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 850 to 975 lbs., 2 to 4 months bred, high blacks, 1050.00 to 1225.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 6 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, high blacks, 1250.00 to 1400.00.
