2013 Kirk Hanna Cattlemen's Leadership College seeks applicantsColorado The Colorado Cattlemen's Association would like to invite you to participate in the 2013 Kirk Hanna Cattlemen's Leadership College. The goal of KHCLC is to provide educational tools and information that can help individuals become active leaders in Colorado's cattle industry at the state and local levels. Through KHCLC, these individuals are able to engage in a variety of activities that provide them with increased knowledge and understanding of the grassroots leadership of CCA, membership programs, working relationships with industry organizations, industry issues, etc. These activities entail: -- Relationship building with CCA members and Board of Directors; -- In-depth spokesperson training; -- Legislative briefing to learn about current industry issues and upcoming legislation; -- Professional development skills; -- Leadership training; and -- Participation in CCA committee meetings and conferences. The 2013 leadership college will kick off in January at the CCA Mid-Winter Conference and Legislative Day. Involving participants in Mid-Winter activities is a great way to begin to illustrate the grassroots leadership of CCA, as well as how the organization addresses industry issues through each of the Association's steering committees. During the January session, participants will also take part in visiting the state's Capitol where they will have the opportunity to observe both the House and Senate legislative proceedings. Participating in KHCLC can help prepare you or a CCA member in your area to become a future leader within the Association. The 2013 KHCLC agenda and application form can be found on our website at www.coloradocattle.org, and applications are due by Jan. 4, 2013. 2013 KHCLC Dates: -- Jan.21 to 23: CCA's Mid-Winter Conference and Legislative Day; -- April 26: Lead the Way--Enhancing your leadership skills; and -- June 17 to 19: CCA/CLA/CCW/JCCA Annual Convention. The cost of attending KHCLC is $200 per person. However, participants will be receiving approximately $800.00 each in value as meals, hotels, convention registration fees, and educational material will be included. Local CCA affiliates have been strong supporters of KHCLC, so we encourage participants to look to their local affiliates to sponsor some of the cost for those who wish to attend.
