Missouri Farm Bureau selects AmbassadorsMissouri A panel of judges selected William Inglish of California, Mo., and Haley Thompson of Chillicothe, Mo., as 2013 Missouri Farm Bureau Ambassadors during the organization's 98th annual meeting Dec. 2 at the Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri Farm Bureau ambassador program selects a male and female student, 17 to 22 years of age, to represent agriculture and Farm Bureau for one year. Each Ambassador receives a $1,250 educational scholarship and travels to Washington, D.C., in March on a Farm Bureau legislative trip. As ambassadors, Inglish and Thompson will make selected appearances throughout 2013 promoting agriculture on behalf of Missouri Farm Bureau. They will assist with Farm Bureau events at the Missouri State Fair and elsewhere. Inglish and Thompson were picked from a field of 27 contestants selected by county Farm Bureaus. Inglish represented the Moniteau County Farm Bureau. His parents are Michael and Patricia Inglish. He currently attends the University of Missouri-Columbia as a freshman majoring in agribusiness management. Club involvement includes: Collegiate Farm Bureau, treasurer of the Mizzou Agriculture Economics Club, and University of Missouri - College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Student Council freshman representative. In 2008, his family received the honor of being the Moniteau County Farm Family. Thompson represented the Livingston County Farm Bureau and is the daughter of Brian and Tina Thompson. She is a freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia is majoring in agribusiness management and minoring in plant science. She is active in the Collegiate FFA and the Sigma Alpha professional agricultural sorority. Thompson's family has been Farm Bureau members for nearly 20 years. The contest the morning of Dec. 2 as judges interviewed each student. During the evening program, six finalists presented five-minute speeches and extemporaneously responded to a question before judges selected the winners. The Ambassador program is sponsored by the Missouri Farm Bureau Promotion and Education Committee. Scholarship funds come from the Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. Date: 12/24/2012
