Corn, wheat close with modest losses


Corn and wheat closed with modest losses while soybeans recovered from early losses to close higher, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Dec. 10.

Uncertainty ahead of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Supply and Demand report had grain on the skittish side. Soybeans rallied as the day went on, while demand remains very good at this time for soybeans.

Wheat closed 7 to 12 cents lower. Corn traded 6 to 7 cents lower. Soybeans closed 3 to 9 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $9.03 1/4, down 6 1/2 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.58 to $8.61, down 7 cents; Minneapolis, $9.42, down 7 cents; Portland, $8.68 3/4 to $8.73 3/4, down 12 1/4 cents; St. Louis, $8.39, down 12 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.62, down 7 cents; Minneapolis, $7.05, down 6 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $7.19 to $7.22, down 7 1/4 cents; Omaha, $7.55 to $7.56, down 6 to 7 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $15.02, up 7 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $14.60 1/2 to $14.67 1/2, up 3 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $14.89 3/4 to $14.99 3/4, up 9 1/2 to 5 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 11, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.26 1/2 to $9.76 1/2, down 9 3/4 to 16 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $9.67 1/2 to $9.90 1/2, down 15 3/4 to 21 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $9.75 3/4 to $9.90 3/4, down 21 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $9.75 1/2 to $9.90 1/2, down 21 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $8.15 to $8.26, unchanged.
