Convention grants offered to emerging entrepreneurs
The future for the sheep industry, as well as agriculture in general, is dependent upon the next generation of producers. That is why the Emerging Entrepreneurs Committee is again offering $200 grants to young producers and first-time attendees who wish to participate in the 2013 American Sheep Industry Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
The objective of the committee is to put together a program designed to bring relevance to the day-to-day operations of sheep producers between the ages of 25 and 40. Flock management practices, financial decisions, grazing contracts, insurance, lamb markets and wool production are just a few of the topic areas being considered.
The $200 discount will be applied on a first-come, first-served basis and will be limited to the first 25 registrants.
The Emerging Entrepreneurs Committee will be meeting on Jan. 24, 2013, and Jan. 26. Attendees are encouraged to attend council meetings and the board of director's informational session on Jan. 25. Registration forms are available at www.sheepusa.org.
