Colorado Master Gardener program scheduled

Colorado

Are you interested in gaining horticulture knowledge and helping others? The Colorado Master Gardener program may be for you. Participants receive intensive training in horticulture in exchange for volunteer service; answering gardening questions, teaching classes, writing articles or service to others.

The 10-week course is scheduled Jan. 31 to April 11, 2013. The class will be held at the CSU Otero County Extension office in Rocky Ford on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are two training options. One option includes volunteering your time in the community; this fee is $230 if paid by Jan. 4. For this option you will need to complete and submit an application, complete a background check, include reference names and sign a volunteer commitment agreement. The second option has no volunteer requirement and only requires a simple form to complete; this fee is $575 if paid by Jan. 4. All fees include the course book.

For more information call Vicki at the CSU Extension's Otero County office at 719-254-7608.
