Hereford show awards presented in Kansas City

Hereford exhibitors were honored for showcasing their breeding programs at national and regional shows throughout the past year during the National Hereford Show at the American Royal in Kansas City Nov. 4. Awards for champion Hereford show heifer, show bull and premier exhibitor were presented to breeders in each of four U.S. regions.

To qualify for these prestigious bronzes, exhibitors must have accumulated points and shown at one national and one regional event. Points were calculated throughout the 2011-2012 show season, which ran from the beginning of May 2011 to the end of April 2012. The following are the winners for each of the four regions.

Southwest Region

--Horned Show Bull of the Year: Gary and Kathy Buchholz, Waxahachie, Texas; Jacqueline Rosson, Milford, Texas; and Mallorie Phelps, Grandview, Texas, with GKB EJE B627 Full Tank B927 ET;

--Horned Show Heifer of the Year: Cameron and Staci Ann Curry, McAlester, Okla., with CH JR Judy 0040 ET;

--Horned Premier Exhibitor: Curtis and Jackie Castle, Crawford, Okla.;

--Polled Show Bull of the Year: Jackie Pullen, Rockwall, Texas, with PH 533P Shining Star 36X;

--Polled Show Heifer of the Year: Kyra Stierwalt, Leedey, Okla., with GO Ms Outcross X76; and

--Polled Premier Exhibitor: Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Okla.

Southeast Region

--Horned Show Bull of the Year: Four L Hereford Farm, Atwood, Tenn., with Four L Mulholland X0144 ET;

--Horned Show Heifer of the Year: Haley Hudson, Harrison, Ark., with Churchill Lady 0230X ET;

--Horned Premier Exhibitor: Four L Hereford Farm;

--Polled Show Bull of the Year: River Circle Farm, Hartsville, Tenn., with RC BF American Made 973 ET;

--Polled Show Heifer of the Year: Doug LeTourneau, Gallatin, Tenn., with DLL Boom Boom Lady 09X; and

--Polled Premier Exhibitor: Doug LeTourneau.

Northwest Region

--Horned Show Bull of the Year: Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, Idaho, and Curtis & Jackie Castle with C Thriller ET;

--Horned Show Heifer of the Year: Brad and Dawn Gohr, Madras, Ore., with FCC 225 Carmen 0153;

--Horned Premier Exhibitor: Colyer Herefords;

--Polled Show Bull of the Year: Hoffman Herefords, Thedford, Neb., and OJJ Ranch, Ririe, Idaho, with H WCC/WB 668 Wyarno 9500 ET;

--Polled Show Heifer of the Year: Colyer, Herefords, Gary and Kathy Buchholz, and Jacqueline Rosson with C New Era Lady 1225 ET; and

--Polled Premier Exhibitor: OJJ Ranch.

Northeast Region

--Horned Show Bull of the Year: Jake Bloomberg, Berwick, Ill., and Lowderman Cattle Co., Macomb, Ill., with JB LCC Quagmire 506;

--Horned Show Heifer of the Year: Korbin Collins, Flanagan, Ill., with Purple RRO Ruby 41X;

--Horned Premier Exhibitor: Lowderman Cattle Co.;

--Polled Show Bull of the Year: Kelsey Diehl, Fairfield, Pa., and Hastings Cattle, Townsend, Del., with CHF MST Dozer 009X;

--Polled Show Heifer of the Year: Karey Howes, Taneytown, Md., with KPH Purple Snooki 002;

--Polled Show Heifer of the Year: Jessica, David, Jacob & Josie Hockett, New Palestine, Ind., with Ramsey's Adrianna 17X; and

--Polled Premier Exhibitor: Oak Ledge Farm, Belmont, N.H.
