Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,375 head Nov. 29, compared to 1,544 head two weeks ago and 1,898 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers sold steady to $5 higher on comparable sales. Feeder heifers sold mostly steady. Trade activity was moderate on moderate to good demand. Dry conditions continue across the area and is taking its toll on wheat pastures. Slaughter cows sold $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested in the previous sale. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 8%, less than 1% replacements and 92% feeders. The feeder supply included 56% steers and bulls, 44% heifers, with nearly 67% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 320 lbs., 206.00; few 407 lbs., 181.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 155.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 148.00 to 153.00, calves 140.00 to 150.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 144.00 to 145.50, 750 to 800 lbs., calves 136.00 to 142.00; few 825 lbs., 136.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 550 lbs., 164.00 to 165.00; lot 576 lbs., 154.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 144.00 to 147.00; lot 756 lbs., 140.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 771 lbs., 134.50; lot 931 lbs., 120.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 161.00 to 174.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 146.50 to 147.00; few 770 lbs., 129.00; few 805 lbs., 118.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 489 lbs., 161.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 131.50 to 133.50; 700 to 725 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00; 875 to 900 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00.
