Colorado feeder cattle auction summary


The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,159 head Nov. 30, compared to 4,928 head last week and 6,544 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, all classes traded higher as buyers were working on filling up after a short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Steers weighing 400 to 800 pounds traded mostly $6 to $9 higher. There was not enough trade activity on steers over 900 pounds for an adequate test of the market. Heifers weighing 400 to 700 pounds traded mostly $5 to $9 higher. No trend was available on heifers over 700 pounds due to a light test. Trading activity was moderate to active. The supply consisted of 56% steers and 44% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds comprised 31% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 290 to 300 lbs., 189.00 to 200.00; 320 to 345 lbs., 175.00 to 209.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 172.00 to 209.00, thin fleshed 219.50; 410 to 500 lbs., 174.00 to 187.00, thin fleshed 192.50; 455 to 500 lbs., 167.00 to 180.00; 500 to 545 lbs., 151.50 to 175.75; 550 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 164.00; 600 to 645 lbs., 144.50 to 157.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 143.00 to 152.50, thin fleshed 156.00 to 157.00; 700 to 745 lbs., 136.00 to 149.00; 800 to 830 lbs., 141.00 to 148.00; 920 to 950 lbs., 132.50 to 135.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 335 lbs., 172.00 to 207.00; 369 lbs., 159.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 171.00 to 179.00; 487 lbs., 169.50; 515 to 545 lbs., 141.00 to 161.00; 605 to 630 lbs., 131.50 to 144.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 290 to 295 lbs., 162.00 to 165.00; 300 to 350 lbs., 158.00 to 173.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 154.00 to 166.00; 405 to 450 lbs., 153.00 to 165.00, full 145.00; 450 to 490 lbs., 147.00 to 162.00; 500 to 545 lbs., 139.00 to 151.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 137.00 to 148.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 134.00 to 148.00; 650 to 695 lbs., 129.00 to 142.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 128.00 to 138.75; 765 to 795 lbs., 128.00 to 129.75; 800 to 835 lbs., 126.00 to 134.00.
