Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 3,565 head Nov. 28, compared to 3,699 head two weeks ago and 4,293 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were $3 to $4 lower, over 600 pounds were $4 higher, but quality was more attractive and more load lots were available. Heifers were mostly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 16% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, bred cows 8%, feeders 74%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 48% of the run, feeder bulls 2%, heifers 50%, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 28%.
