No-till Oklahoma Meeting scheduledOklahoma The 2013 No-till Oklahoma Meeting will be held Feb. 19 to 20, 2013, at the National Center for Employee Development in Norman, Okla. This year the agenda is shaping up to the best yet with several nationally and internationally known speakers coming to share their views on progressive no-till cropping systems. Speakers currently committed include Ray Ward, soil fertility management; Gail Fuller, a longtime no-till farmer from Kansas; DeAnn Pressley, Kansas State University, vertical tillage; and Alan Schlegel, KSU, stubble height and soil moisture conservation. Main topics covered during the two-day event will include: --Soil moisture measurement and storage; --Management of wheat after wheat; --Fertilizer reactions in the soil; --Vertical tillage (Are there benefits and economics of using it); --Compaction (measuring and what can be done to fix the problem); --Resistant weed; --Cover crops; and --Industry updates. In addition to the main meeting we will also be meeting with the Southern Conservation Agricultural Systems group that consists of individuals throughout the southern U.S. This will provide a look at the latest cutting edge research in no-till cropping systems in the southern US.
