Landshire expands Nike sandwich recall

Landshire of St. Louis, Mo., is expanding its recall of the Nike sandwich as a precautionary measure to include the addition of Nike Super Poor Boy Sandwich as well production dates of the Nike All-American Sandwich. The expanded recall includes 17,305 cases. The products may contain Listeria Monocytogenes. Listeria Monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Lister infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The initial recall was issued on Oct. 20.

Production lot codes affected by the recall are from 11 237 6 through 11 285 6. The lot number is printed in black ink on the side or back of the individual packaged sandwich. The 237 indicates the beginning Julian date and 285 indicates the ending Julian date of the lot numbers being recalled.

The sandwich subject to the recall is: Landshire Nike All-American and Landshire Nike Super Poor Boy. This is a prepackaged, individually wrapped sandwich. The Nike All-American UPC code is 0 9748801741 5 and the Nike Super Poor Boy UPC code is 0 9748800001 1. The Nike Super Poor Boy sandwich may also be sold in a two-count pack and an eight-count pack. The two-count pack Nike Super Poor Boy UPC code is 0 9748800765 2 and the eight-count pack Nike Super Poor Boy UPC code is 0 9748800712 6.
