Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 1,984 head May 25, compared to 3,240 head last week and 2,194 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 350 to 900 pounds in a limited supply steady with a lower undertone. Heifers 350 to 700 pounds not enough for a market test, a lower undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady to $1 lower. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers. Receipts included 47% 600 pounds and over, 37% 600 pounds and under, and 16% slaughter cows and bulls.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 157.00 to 160.00 (157.49); 5 head, 474 lbs., 155.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 140.00 to 148.00 (145.44); 550 to 600 lbs., 134.00 to 138.50 (134.41); 62 head, 656 lbs., 131.00; 12 head, 800 lbs., 124.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 122.00 to 122.25 (122.16). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 136.50 to 147.00 (141.52); 16 head, 571 lbs., 130.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 122.00 to 128.50 (127.38); 21 head, 818 lbs., 120.00; 63 head, 851 lbs., 119.35. Medium and large frame 2 470 to 496 lbs., 126.00 to 134.00 (130.77); 800 to 850 lbs., 116.10 to 117.00 (116.31). Large frame 3, Holsteins 10 head, 678 lbs., 87.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 65.00 to 66.00; high dressing, 66.50 to 79.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 62.00 to 66.25; high dressing, 66.50 to 78.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 58.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 62.00 to 66.00; high dressing, 66.50 to 78.50; low dressing, 51.00 to 61.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 90.00 to 94.00; high dressing, 98.50 to 102.00; low dressing, 75.00 to 87.50.
