McAlester livestock auction reportThe McAlester Livestock Auction, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 925 head May 24, compared to 930 head last week and 2,175 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steers were mostly $8 to $10 lower, steer calves under 400 pounds instances were $10 to $15 lower. Heifers were mostly $7 to $8 lower. The supply included 17% over 600 pounds, 51% heifers. Quality of cattle was average. Demand was light. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $5 higher. A total of 160 cows and bulls sold with 66% going to packers.
