Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,144 head May 23, compared to 2,648 head last week and 4,505 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $6 to $10 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up near 9% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 90%. The feeder supply included 55% steers, 1% bulls and 44% heifers, with nearly 62% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 425 lbs., full 131.00; few 535 lbs., 136.50, few 559 lbs., fleshy 120.50, 550 to 600 lbs., full 124.00 to 128.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 124.00 to 128.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 121.50 to 122.50. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 850 to 1275 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 950.00 to 1000.00/pair; aged, 1100 lbs., with 75-lb. calf, 650.00/pair.
