Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts to 2,817 head May 18, compared to 2,008 head last week and 1,757 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to weak. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower and bulls were steady. Trade was active, demand was moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 11% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, bred cows 1%, pairs 5%, feeders 82%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 70% of the run, feeder bulls 1%, heifers 29%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 48%.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1372 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 800.00 to 875.00/head; middle-aged to aged, 990 to 1370 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 640.00 to 850.00/head; aged, 990 to 1370 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 585.00 to 600.00/head.
