K-State student interns with CABKansas Wyatt Bechtel is the Certified Angus Beef LLC Industry Information intern for summer 2011. The Kansas State University senior in ag communications and journalism, dual-majoring in animal science, grew up near Eureka, Kan., on his family's cow-calf and stocker cattle operation. At K-State, was first vice president of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow and will lead the chapter as president in the year ahead. He's also a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and a volunteer coach for the Eureka Kids Wrestling Club. "We're excited to have Wyatt on our team this summer," said Steve Suther, CAB divisional director. "His combination of practical cattle knowledge and journalism will help us share news about high-quality beef with farmers and ranchers." As an intern, Bechtel writes new releases and technical articles, and travels for feature story interviews and photographs, all based in the Manhattan, Kan., CAB office from May through July. The Certified Angus Beef brand, started in 1978, relies on strict quality standards to ensure consumers "taste the difference." The only branded beef company owned by the 33,000 rancher-members of the American Angus Association, CAB is headquartered in Wooster, Ohio, where Bechtel attended an information seminar in March.
