Learn to freeze and can produce
Learn how to freeze or can this year's garden produce by attending Food Preservation 101 on June 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Morgan County Extension Center in Fort Morgan.
This workshop will be interactive and cover basic food preservation techniques including freezing and water bath canning. Freezing information includes vegetables like corn, peas and beans and fruits like peaches. The water bath information includes fruits, jams and jellies, pickles, tomatoes, salsa, and other tomato mixtures.
This basic class will not cover pressure canning which is required for doing vegetables like beans and corn or meat, fish and poultry. If there is interest in learning pressure canning techniques, another workshop will be scheduled.
The workshop supplies are being paid by Morgan County Family Center Increasing Access to Health Care and Healthy Living Project grant. Even though participants don't need to pay a fee, registration is required by June 1 so there will be adequate supplies for participants to do hands-on activities. Participants will receive food preservation resources in English and Spanish.
