NALF to host second Emerging Leaders Academy

The North American Limousin Foundation has opened the application process for its Emerging Leaders Academy for the 2011-2012 year. The program, in its second year, was implemented through NALF's Strategic Plan.

There were 17 participants from across the country in the program's inaugural year. NALF launched the program to provide a unique educational and networking opportunity for an elite group of Limousin breeders each year. Academy participants explore current issues, trends and technologies shaping the beef industry while preparing to help the Limousin breed capitalize on its opportunities and sharpen its progressive commercial focus.

"We are extremely excited to offer the program to active NALF members," said Mark Anderson, executive director for NALF. "Participants get to know the beef supply chain from pasture to plate. They get acquainted with other committed breeders, gain valuable marketing insights, generate new ideas that can be applied to their own enterprises, and increase their awareness of the tools and programs available to Limousin seedstock and commercial cow-calf producers."

"The Emerging Leaders Academy is becoming a force for positive change within the Limousin breed," Anderson stated. "We have just begun to see the benefits of young people coming back to the agriculture sector. The ELA has become the networking and leadership opportunity that motivates our most enthusiastic, up-and-coming breeders to get more involved in their state Limousin associations, NALF and other industry organizations."

The application is available on the NALF website or by contacting the office at 303-220-1693. Application deadline for the 2011-2012 program year is July 18. The next class begins in August with an industry tour followed by webcasts, special events and industry meetings.
