Aviation museum plans agriculture exhibit

LIBERAL, Kan. (AP)--An aviation museum in the southwest Kansas town of Liberal is creating an exhibit that will tell the story of aviation in agriculture and highlight a group called the International Flying Farmers.

The Leader & Times in Liberal reported that the effort got a boost recently when a group of Liberal residents donated the proceeds from an air show to Mid-America Air Museum Director Jim Bert. The checks from the 2010 Air Fair Committee totaled $5,395.

Earlier, a Flying Farmer from Iowa donated $10,000 to the project. Two foundations and the city of Liberal also are helping out.

The Flying Farmers used to be based in Wichita. When the group's corporate office disbanded, its records and memorabilia were sent to Liberal.

The exhibit will feature items from the group, including numerous photos.
