NPS Management Plan updated

Kansas

A draft of the 2010 Update to the Kansas Nonpoint Source Pollution Management Plan has been prepared for public review and comment. This document is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for states that receive federal funding for NPS programs and projects through the Clean Water Act Section 319 Program.

The complete draft document can be viewed online at www.kdheks.gov/nps and www.kswraps.org. This document outlines state goals for NPS management, including objectives and strategies to achieve these goals. The plan also includes program indicators for measuring success and milestones for tracking progress.

A KDHE representative will be attending each of the March 2011 Basin Advisory Committee meetings to provide an overview of the draft plan and to receive questions and comments on the document. The schedule for the BAC meetings is available at: www.kwo.org/Calendar/calendar.htm. Public comments will be accepted through April 1 at NPS@kdheks.gov. The document will be revised and finalized for submission to the EPA following a public hearing in April. The date and location of the public hearing will be posted on www.kdheks.gov/nps later in February.

If you have any questions or comments on the draft plan, please e-mail them to NPS@kdheks.gov.
