ICA to set priorities at annual meetingIowa Members of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association will hold policy committee meetings and adopt proposed policies during the annual convention Feb. 25 to 26 at the Bridge View Center in Ottumwa. ICA has three standing committees that develop policy proposals. They are Beef Product, which deals with the marketing and safety of beef; Business Issues, which considers agricultural policy and tax and finance issues; and the Cattle Production committee, which discusses cattle marketing, health and animal research. The policy committee meetings will be held on Feb. 25, from 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. Colin Woodall, NCBA vice president of government affairs, will speak briefly to each of the committees about national issues relative to their work. The ICA Annual Meeting will be held on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m., when the policy committees will present proposals for adoption by ICA members. Policy proposals can also be made from the floor. Any producer member of ICA can participate in the policy committee and annual meeting discussions. During the ICA business meeting on Saturday, ICA members will also review the proposed strategic plan for the association. The ICA is holding its annual convention in tandem with the Cornbelf Cow-Calf Conference in recognition of the CCCC 40th anniversary.
