Narrowing the yield gap for corn production

Growers seek to increase corn yields through a number of agronomic practices, not all of which are equally effective. Factors like hybrid selection and crop rotation, for example, have more potential to increase yields whereas plant population and row spacing might have less.

The latest Focus on Corn webcast by Jeff Coulter, Ph.D., an Extension agronomist at the University of Minnesota, focuses on "Narrowing the Yield Gap for Corn Production." It addresses different agronomic practices and recommends which ones have the most potential to help growers increase corn yields.

This webcast will be open access until Dec. 31. View this presentation at www.plantmanagementnetwork.org/edcenter/seminars/corn/NarrowingtheYieldGap. Other Focus on Corn presentations can be found at www.plantmanagementnetwork.org/foc.

Focus on Corn is a publication of the Plant Management Network, a nonprofit online publisher whose mission is to enhance the health, management, and production of agricultural and horticultural crops. It achieves this mission through applied, science-based resources. PMN is jointly managed by the American Society of Agronomy, American Phytopathological Society, and Crop Science Society of America.
