Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,642 head Sept. 9, compared to 1,269 head last week and 1,417 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 500 pounds were mostly $2 to $4 lower with greatest decline on fleshy unweaned offerings, 500 to 600 pounds were steady to weak with those over 600 pounds $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 17% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 82%. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% heifers, with nearly 58% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 200 to 300 lbs., 140.00 to 142.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 134.00 to 140.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 119.00, two packages 532 to 540 lbs., pre-conditioned 121.00; two packages 667 to 676 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.50 to 107.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 103.85 to 107.85. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2300 lbs., 69.50 to 77.75.
