K-State to host Swine DayKansas Kansas State University's Department of Animal Sciences and Industry will host Swine Day 2010 on Nov. 18 at the KSU Alumni Center in Manhattan. The day begins at 8 a.m. with registration and a technology trade show. The program starts at 9:45 a.m. A highlight of Swine Day is the release of the K-State Swine Team's annual research report. The team will discuss how the research results can improve pork producers' net returns. This year Dr. Steve Henry, Abilene Animal Hospital, will discuss the Failure to Thrive Syndrome occurring on several Kansas swine farms. Joe Kerns, a risk management expert from International Agribusiness Group, will discuss methods to manage risk in today's swine industry. The program will end at 3:30 p.m., followed by a reception featuring K-State ice cream. The fee to attend is $20 if paid by Nov. 10 and $30 after that date and at the door. The fee includes the cost of lunch and conference proceedings.
