Another haystack fire in northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. (AP)--Authorities in Weld County are investigating another haystack fire.

The fire was reported early Oct. 19 at a dairy farm near Hudson. It destroyed as much as 500 tons of hay.

The Greeley Tribune reports there have been at least six other suspicious haystack and hay field fires in the county in the last month. The first fire, on Sept. 23, also destroyed a vacant home. Most have been reported in the early morning hours.

Investigators haven't said whether they suspect arson in the latest fire but they are treating the area as a crime scene. A dog trained to sniff out accelerants was brought in and state and federal investigators have also been helping.
