NM family finds horse killedALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP)--A central New Mexico family that found their pregnant horse shot with its legs cut off is upset with the livestock inspector that killed the animal. Carlos Barela of Socorro County tells KRQE-TV in Albuquerque that the family found the dead horse along a road on Oct. 9. The TV station says it learned that state livestock inspector Bea Bell was called to the site after the mare was found with three of its legs stuck in a cattle crossing guard. Bell says its hind legs had fallen through the cattle guard, and one front leg was also stuck and severely broken. Bell says she had to dispatch the horse on the spot, and the only way to get it out of the road was to dismember it. Barela says he thinks the horse could have been saved. Bell says there was no chance it could have survived.
