Missouri Corn elects new president

With corn harvest in full swing, local grain farmer Kenny McNamar of Gorin, Mo., takes the reins as president of the Missouri Corn Growers Association. Elected during the organization's August board meeting, McNamar succeeds corn grower Keith Witt of Warrenton, Mo., effective Oct. 1.

A corn, soybean and beef farmer, McNamar represents growers from District 3 in the northeast portion of the state. He previously served as the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council chairman and MCMC treasurer. McNamar has also represented growers nationally, sitting on National Corn Growers Association and U.S. Grains Council action teams.

"It is a great honor to represent growers in northeast Missouri and across the state," said McNamar. "Our industry faces many challenges in the coming year and I look forward to working with a strong team of grower-leaders to continue making great strides on behalf of Missouri's corn farmers."

MCGA is a grassroots organization of more than 1,700 farmer-members dedicated to increasing the profitability of corn production through sound policies, continued market development and strong involvement in the political process. The MCMC board of directors comprises 14 farmers elected from across the state. This volunteer board was formed in 1984 with the passage of a corn checkoff and is dedicated to market development, research and education.
